Only an estimated 41 acres of the 220 acre park are developed, the rest being left in its natural beauty. There is a paved road which runs through the entire length of the park. STORVIK PARK- at 29th and 32nd street
A well designed park, with lighted little league/woman's softball field, restrooms, children's playground, basketball court, picnic area, and parking.
ROTARY PARK-below Cap Sante Park
This is one of the newest parks in the system and is located on the east side of Cap Sante Marina. It is a linear park with beach access and a paved trail leading out to the tip of the park. Other facilities include: a shelter building, picnic areas and parking.
CAUSLAND PARK -between "M" and "N" Ave. 8th St.
This is a unique park in Anacortes because of the extensive ornate rock work. Facilities include an amphitheater, picnic tables, a memorial plaque, and open landscape areas.
VOLUNTEER PARK-near 14th and "H" street
This sight is slowly being developed, as a joint project between the city and the school district, into a sports field complex. The site contains a baseball field, softball field, soccer field and a little league field.
CAP SANTE PARK-along "W" Avenue from 4th Street
Cap Sante Park is primarily a vista point. A road to the top of the hill affords the visitor an excellent view of the city and the nearby islands.
Mt.ERIE PARK-south from Anacortes off Heart Lake Road
Mt. Erie Park is located at the top of the island, elevation 1300 feet, and is part of the city's original watershed. Surrounding the park is another 1400 acres of city forest lands. A road to the top and a small parking area offers an excellent view of the surrounding area. There are four vista points looking in all directions. A series of trails are found throughout the park and the adjacent city forest lands.
CLEARIDGE PARK- Located on Blakely Place
This small recreational area contains two tennis courts and a basketball court.
29th STREET PLAYGROUND
A pocket playground area with an assortment of children's playground equipment.
KEITH SHUGART'S PLAYGROUND-at 9th and "N"
This is a one-lot playground adjacent to the public library with a variety of children's playground equipment and a basketball court.
Mt. ERIE CITY/SCHOOL PLAYGROUND-41st Street at "N" Ave.
This park site is located on the school grounds and was a joint development effort between the Anacortes School District and the city to build a children's playground.
CRANBERRY LAKE AREA- off Oakes Avenue up Georgia Place to Cranberry Road
This site, located near the city's center, is heavily forested containing Cranberry Lake, several other lakes and bogs. The site is presently undeveloped and varies in terrain from flat to sleep slopes. It is adjacent to 451 acres of city forest land. An extensive trail system allows for access throughout the area. |
